Routing Schemes in Software-Defined Vehicular Networks: Design, Open Issues and Challenges

نویسندگان

چکیده

Software-defined vehicular networks (SDVN) is a promising technology to overcome the limitations of current networking. However, existing routing schemes are not equipped handle communication in SDVNs. In addition, SDVNs, general, has been lightly addressed literature well compute flow tables. To fill this gap, article explores potential SDVNs from aspect and studies design principles classifies solutions based on different criteria. SDVN then compared through comprehensive analysis, key open issues opportunities for future research directions discussed.

Some Open Safety Issues in Vehicular Networks

We consider autonomous and automated vehicles circulating on major roads and highways, forming vehicular networks ranging from strings (single-lane pre-planned platoons or ad hoc strings) to multi-lane ad hoc vehicular networks (VANETs) [1]. Efficiency (e.g., higher asphalt utilization ratio, shorter travelling times, no human time devoted to driving) and improved safety are major motivations f...

Trust-based Secure Routing in Software-defined Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

With the rising interest of expedient, safe, and high-efficient transportation, vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) have turned into a critical technology in smart transportation systems. Because of the high mobility of nodes, VANETs are vulnerable to security attacks. In this paper, we propose a novel framework of software-defined VANETs with trust management. Specifically, we separate the forw...

Routing in Vehicular Networks: Feasibility, Security and Modeling Issues

Vehicular networks are sets of surface transportation systems that have the ability to communicate with each other. There are several possible network architectures to organize their in-vehicle computing systems. Potential schemes may include vehicle-to-vehicle ad-hoc networks, wired backbone with wireless last-hops, or hybrid architectures using vehicle-to-vehicle communications to augment roa...

Routing Challenges and Solutions in Vehicular Ad hoc Networks

Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) are known as a special type of Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) specialized in vehicular communications. These networks are based on smart vehicles and basestations, which share data by means of wireless communications. To route these information, a routing protocol is required. Since the VANETs have a particular network features as rapidly changeable topology,...

Software-Defined 5G Networks: Challenges, and Technologies

The commoditization of key processing components coupled with virtualization of infrastructure functions will lead to a radical change in the economics of mobile networks. The latter will help network providers (e.g., MNO, MVNO) move from proprietary hardware and software platforms towards open and flexible cellular systems based on general-purpose cloud infrastructures. In this context, 5G sys...
